Selling text links

Most online publishers monetize their websites using Google Adsense. Unfortunately the Google Adsense account can be disabled at any time giving flimsy reasons, even if you have been publisher for nearly 5 years and earning more than $3000 monthly.  If you are online publisher who has spent a lot of time and money on domains and webhosting, it is natural that you will look for other options for website monetization. One very popular option is selling text links.

Unfortunately, at least one major search engine, does not want online publishers to make money selling text links. The relentless efforts to ruin the lives of these small publishers, when exposed , could leave them open to lawsuits and expose their hypocrisy.

Search engine monopolies and antitrust

From  http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702303339904576403603764717680.html

Google is almost a  monopoly in many countries for  internet search with a market share of over 80%.

If a website buys or sells links which are also a form of advertising (instead of spending their entire advertising budget on Google Adwords), the website is banned or demoted from the search engine rankings.

Local search engines

In some large  countries, the biggest  search engine is a local search engine

For example in
China – Baidu
Russia – Yandex
are the major search engines. They understand the local requirements better and can generate relevant results accordingly
